LONDON – APRIL 22, 2021 – Story House Egmont (formerly Egmont Magazines) is thrilled to announce it has acquired the magazine rights for the exceptionally successful pre-school brand, CoComelon. Aimed at kids aged 1 – 5, every episode of this captivating show helps preschoolers learn letters, numbers, animal sounds and colours, as well as covering important life lessons and providing parents an opportunity to teach and play with their children as they watch together.
The reach and strength of the CoComelon brand is unprecedented. Not only is CoComelon the no. 1 kids’ channel on YouTube, but it was also 2020’s most popular show on Netflix, delighting young audiences the world over. On YouTube alone, CoComelon garners an incredible 3.5 billion views per month and is adding to its 107,000,000 subscribers every day, making it the world’s most watched kids’ show, with the largest kids’ audience ever.
CoComelon is the latest addition to Story House Egmont’s enviable preschool portfolio which currently includes Thomas & Friends, Milkshake!, Ryan’s World, another digital first brand, and PAW Patrol, the UK’s no. 1 preschool magazine. Story House Egmont’s continued success in the preschool magazine market is underpinned by understanding that the unique package of print activities, stories and play have a valuable role in improving literacy, reading for pleasure and child development. This winning formula has led to +10 percent growth in RSV year-on-year in the preschool sector for the company.
The deal was signed by Story House Egmont Publishing Director, Laura Adnitt and includes all territories in the group for magazines, as well as Colouring & Activity book formats for EEA territories. Laura Adnitt said, “As a parent, I know first-hand the great appeal and value of CoComelon. As a publisher, I see the huge potential to share this blissful brand in a printed format with thousands of young families across our publishing network. CoComelon, with its mind-blowing reach and ‘of the moment’ relevance, is a wonderful addition to our publishing portfolio, where we aspire to offer something for every child. We are incredibly excited by this acquisition and can’t wait to get started on our product development with Moonbug.”
Katie Wilkinson, Publishing Manager at ThePoint.1888 said, “When Story House Egmont takes on a new brand, it fully commits to the partnership and to building the brand. The scale of CoComelon is like nothing we have seen in preschool and we cannot wait to see what this new partnership will deliver to its fans.”
